The Asset Owners Disclosure Project (AODP) is an Australian not-for-profit organization, created from a Climate Institute initiative, and is about to have a significant impact on climate change and the finance industry as it launches globally.

The AODP is an independent assessor of how the world’s largest investors – such as pension and superannuation funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds – manage climate change related risks and opportunities.

The AODP has already attracted some significant media attention but is now preparing to launch its presence on the global stage both by creating transparency for the world’s leading investors but also by the parallel launch of its new social media platform called PARETO.

The Campaign and Social Media Manager will coordinate the execution of the AODP and Pareto campaigns, aiming to engage members of pension and superannuation funds towards co-ordinated pressure on their fund to disclose how it is managing climate change risks and opportunities.

The role will generate and manage relationships with the first phase campaign partners and media organisations in partnership with the global PR manager.

The role will have a wide berth to create and manage new partner relationships, bringing together the resources of the existing campaign partners and working with our social media design partners to help launch PARETO globally in the middle of the year.

You will orchestrate and channel the core messages and manage the campaign at an activity level. You will be an experienced campaigner. Experience of climate change campaigning is an advantage but this is a unique angle on the subject and so a blend of other experience will be valued, especially related to finance. US experience especially valued.

The role is initially a 4 month contract with scope to extend to full time.

Do you have excellent communication skills? Recently left university or entered the workforce and want to make sure you are making a difference while doing the 9 – 5?

Here’s your chance – Opportunity International Australia is looking for a Communications Assistant to join its award-winning Marketing & Communications team. This role will provide a wide range of communications support to make sure we can spread the word about the important work we are doing helping people out of poverty.

Opportunity exists to provide opportunities for people living in poverty to transform their lives. We have over 40 years’ experience in microfinance and support services, using a sustainable approach to solve poverty. As a small and vibrant team, we are passionate and dedicated to our role in eradicating poverty. We cultivate a friendly, professional culture where staff can apply their talents and skills with the knowledge that they are making a real difference. You can join us as we work to provide millions of families with an opportunity to leave poverty behind for good. For more information, see www.opportunity.org.au.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Sourcing, researching and writing copy for newsletters, publications, brochures and appeals, as well as campaigns and events as required

Managing the production (and assistance with the delivery) of communications materials

General administrative support to the whole team including PowerPoint presentations, writing, proofing and editing, and the monitoring of communications activities

Assistance with our brand development strategy, including media and PR, sponsorship and advertising, and assistance with our advocacy program

You will have strong writing skills, a great attention to detail and excellent organisational and administrative abilities. An understanding of the media environment and a strong interest in international affairs is also required. With an ability to work under pressure, you will be flexible and adaptable to change.

You will have the ability to liaise with suppliers and stakeholders (both internal and external), allowing you to manage projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Priding yourself on your ability to deliver high-quality materials and efficient processes, your practical approach, ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to contribute within a small, dynamic team will be highly valued.

You will also have experience with MS Office, with experience in PowerPoint. This role would suit a recent graduate with a degree in communications or journalism (other relevant qualifications accepted), or a candidate with 1 – 2 years experience in the workforce.

As part of a Christian organisation, you will be committed to our mission of poverty alleviation and serving the poor. This full-time role is Sydney CBD based, reporting to the Brand & Communications Manager. Remuneration will be negotiated based on experience.
